Test C2180-410: IBM MQ V8.0, System Administration - Middleware News

IBM Certified System Administrator - MQ V8.0

Job Role Description / Target Audience

This intermediate level certification is for system administrators who have extensive product knowledge and are expected to plan, install, configure and maintain the product.
These system administrators perform  day-to-day administration activities which cover:
1.  Planning, Installation and Migration
2.  Configuration
3.  Security
4.  Administration
5.  Availability
6.  Monitoring
7.  Performance Tuning
8.  Problem Determination
It is expected that this system administrator will be generally self-sufficient and be able to perform the tasks involved in the role with limited assistance from peers, product documentation and vendor support services.
Due to the various platforms supported by IBM MQ V8.0, this certification is a cross platform certification.  There are platform specific questions on the certification test.
To attain the IBM Certified System Administrator - MQ V8.0 certification, candidates must pass 1 test. To prepare for the test, it is recommended to refer to the job role description and recommended prerequisite skills, and click the link to the test below to refer to the test objectives (skills measured on the test) and the Test preparation tab.

Recommended Prerequisite Skills

Knowledge and foundational skills one needs to possess before acquiring skills measured on the certification test. These foundational skills are NOT measured on the test. For skills measured on the test, see Test Objectives.)
  • Working knowledge of IBM MQ
  • Working knowledge of supported operating systems (e.g., AIX, HP-UX, Solaris,  IBM i, Linux, z/OS, Windows)
  • Good understanding of messaging concepts
  • Basic knowledge of operating MQ Explorer
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts
  • Basic understanding of security concepts and protocols

Requirements

This certification requires 1 test(s).

Test(s) required:
Click on the link(s) below to see test details, test objectives, suggested training and sample tests.
  1. Test C2180-410 - IBM MQ V8.0, System Administration

Each test:
  1. contains questions requiring single and multiple answers.  For multiple-answer questions, you need to choose all required options to get the answer correct. You will be advised how many options make up the correct answer.
  2. is designed to provide diagnostic feedback on the Examination Score Report, correlating back to the test objectives, informing the test taker how he or she did on each section of the test. As a result, to maintain the integrity of each test, questions and answers are not distributed.

To prepare for Test C2180-410, it is first recommended that you are familiar with the job role description and the parameters this certification is based on, as well as have knowledge of the topics outlined in the test objectives/skills measured on the test.  Compare your own technical level to the test objectives and the recommended training resources, and then determine for yourself how much preparation you require. Note that these educational sources are recommended, but not required (*) before taking a certification test.

Before preparing for the certification test, it is recommended that you measure your current level of skill by taking the Sample Test (located from the "Sample/Assessment test" link above)..

You can prepare for the test through the Tutor Approach (classroom, instructor led course, and other sources) or the Self-Study Approach.  Sources within each approach collectively cover the skills measured on the test.

To prepare via the Tutor Approach, take course [WM102 + (WM207 or WM209) + WM212], and refer to the sources with an * in front of them. Note that per this formula, you are required to take only 3 courses.

To prepare via the Self-Study Approach, omit the courses, and refer to all other sources with and without the * in front.

(*) Notes:
The recommended educational resources listed are not intended to be a substitute for, but should complement, relevant practical experience.
Extensive product knowledge is required to pass the test.
Every effort has been made to make the recommended educational resources as complete and as accurate as possible, but no warranty of fitness is implied. The resources provided are on an as is basis. IBM shall have neither liability nor responsibility to any person or entity with respect to any loss or damages arising from course or publication content..

  1. Hi,

I am unclear about an answer for a question in the certification test. Would you kindly provide a plausible answer for the following question?
1.An application using the WebSphere MQ classes for JMS encountered an error. A First Failure Support
Technology (FFST) file has been created named JMS0001.FDC.
Which default directory should the system administrator review?
    A. /var/mqm/errors
    B. /var/mqm/errors/FFDC
    C. /var/mqm/qmgrs/QMGRNAME/errors/FFDC
    D. current application working directory/FFDC

  2. /var/mqm/errors - there will be no default directories named FFDC

  3. A system administrator needs to design a solution for transferring confidential data from a financial
institution that is using MQ network to another institution that is using non-MQ network and
FTP/SFTP protocols. The data must be protected while the messages are on the queues on the
MQ network and during the transfer.
How can the system administrator do this?
    A. Use IBM MQ Managed File Transfer and Advanced Message Security.
    B. Use publish/subscribe topology combined with SSL/TLS enabled channels.
    C. Enable SSL/TLS on sender and receiver channels and also enable the FTP protocol on the
    queue manager.
    D. Use native MQ, which has the ability to transfer files over a non-MQ (FTP/SFTP) network and
encrypts data on queues by default

  4. any answer for the above question

MQ Series: - It is an IBM web sphere product which is evolved in 1990’s. MQ series does transportation from one point to other. It is an EAI tool (Middle ware) VERSIONS:-5.0, 5.1, 5.3, 6.0, 7.0(new version). The currently using version is 6.2 Note: – MQ series supports more than 35+ operating systems. It is platform Independent. For every OS we have different MQ series software’s. But the functionality of MQ series Default path for installing MQ series is:- C: programfiles\BM\clipse\SDK30 C: programfiles\IBM\WebsphereMQ After installation it will create a group and user. Some middleware technologies are Tibco, SAP XI. MQ series deals with two things, they are OBJECTS, SERVICES. In OBJECTS we have • QUEUES • CHANNELS • PROCESS • AUTHENTICATION • QUERY MANAGER. In SERVICES we have LISTENERS. Objects: – objects are used to handle the transactions with the help of services. QUEUE MANAGER maintains all the objects and services. QUEUE: – it is a database structure

IBM WebSphere MQ – Common install/uninstall issues for MQ Version on Windows - Middleware News

Creating a log file when you install or uninstall WebSphere MQ WebSphere MQ for Windows is installed using the Microsoft Installer (MSI). If you install the MQ server or client through launchpad , MQPARMS or setup.exe , then a log file is automatically generated in %temp% during installation. Alternatively you can supply parameters on the installation MSI command msiexec to generate a log file, or enable MSI logging system-wide (which generates MSI logs for all install and uninstall operations). If you uninstall through the Windows Add/Remove programs option, no log file is generated. You should either uninstall from the MSI command line and supply parameters to generate a log file, or enable MSI logging system-wide (which generates MSI logs for all install and uninstall operations). For details on how to enable MSI logging, see the following article in the WebSphere MQ product documentation: Advanced installation using msiexec For details on how to enable system-w
